The 2014 ECE-RJ Kallah

A Spiritual Journey
Torah & Teva – Jewish Practice in the Great Outdoors

Held at the historic Omni Grove Park Inn, our second official Kallah, took place in Asheville NC.

Rabbi Mike Comins, founder of TorahTrek, was the scholar-in-residence.  A licensed desert guide and leader of many silent meditation and wilderness retreats, Rabbi Comins also teaches a Making Prayer Real course over the internet.  His teaching helped participants reach deeply inside to find their spiritual selves.

Shira Kline (ShirLaLa) worked closely with Rabbi Comins and added a musical component to the Kallah.  Cantor Mark Horowitz (JCC Association of America) was our sixth Distinguished Speaker and challenged us to view our schools with a new eye to understand that there was more to being a “Jewish School” than bulletin boards and props.

Rabbi Batsheva Meiri, Congregation Beth HaTephila in Asheville, welcomed us to the community during Thursday dinner and hosted us for Friday evening services.

The revised By-Laws of ECE-RJ were officially approved and the newly streamlined Board was installed.

All past Board Members were honored in a variety of ways. Prominent Jewish musicians, Billy Jonas and Mama Doni accompanied by her acoustic guitarist, Eric Lindberg, gave memorable concerts.
