Help with Filling ECE Director, Assistant Director and Teaching Positions

I’m sure that you know that membership in ECE-RJ is made available for ECE Directors, Assistant Directors, and Teachers! However, did you know that there is a FREE membership available for URJ Congregations during your placement process? I didn’t think so!

As the Executive Director of NATA*, I know that ECE-RJ helps our congregations find the most qualified director for their synagogues. We treasure our professional collaboration with ECE-RJ.

The member-led organization provides incredibly helpful resources for congregations before, during and after the search. A link to the hiring support resources can be found in the Congregation (Lay leaders, Staff, Clergy, and Supporters ) Lounge on the ECE-RJ website.

These resources help with questions such as, “What should you consider prior to a search process?  For example, take the job description. In my opinion, it is one of the most important items in a job search. You can read their resource on what items should be included in the job description.

ECE-RJ can provide help with choosing a search committee. Who should be on the committee? How many should you have on the committee? What are the responsibilities? What about a timeline and budget?”

Let’s not forget about the interview process as well. Their resources provide for suggestions of how to receive and review resumes, and what you’ll want to learn through the interviews. They even provide sample interview questions specifically for potential Directors of ECE.

Finally, ECE-RJ has provided a terrific checklist for on-boarding your new director and so much more.

Utilize the ECE-RJ resources. You’ll be happy that you did!
