Outdoor, Play-Based Education in Early Childhood

Outdoor, play-based, child-centered education provides children with the time, space, and permission to unfold naturally through rich, real-life, hands-on active learning experiences. The focus is to support the development of well-rounded lifelong learners who are self-starters and critical thinkers. This approach uses hands-on discovery, active learning and the child’s innate sense of curiosity to propel deep meaningful learning.
Kisha Reid is the owner and director of Discovery Early Learning Center: A Place for Childhood, a wonderful play-based program located in Poolesville, Maryland. She has been in the early childhood field for 27 years and continues to actively work in the classroom with children 3-5 years old.
