Meet Up: Making literacy learning come alive in your classroom

Over the last few years the Science of Reading research has been sweeping through the nation's elementary schools. While learning to read is an endeavor done in the first few years of elementary school, there are literacy foundational skills that children start to learn in their preschool years. One crucial foundational skill is phonological awareness, which is the ability to identify, isolate and manipulate sounds in oral language. In this session, we will discuss what phonological awareness is, why it is important, and how you can infuse this work into the later preschool years in a developmentally appropriate manner.
