The jobs that await our current preschoolers do not exist yet. As such, we are preparing our youngest students for a world we don’t know about. We are, however, aware that there is a growing trend of anti-semitism and so we need to do two things: give our children the tools and skills to be successful, proud and confident of what they can accomplish professionally, personally, emotionally and spiritually as they develop. J-STEM dovetails the two worlds at the intersection of tradition and innovation. Join Dr. Tamar Andrews as she describes how she created a world-renowned J-STEM program that saw buy-in from teachers, administrators, clergy and the community.

About the presenter:

Tamar Andrews has been working in Jewish early childhood centers since 1978, before licensing regulations could have prevented her from subbing in her mother’s classroom while still in junior high school. While her education and experience have grown some, her passion for Jewish early education has increased exponentially. Tamar directs the early childhood program at Temple Isaiah in Los Angeles and is also the director of the BA and MA in early childhood education at the American Jewish University. She loves to share ideas, pedagogy, curriculum and more with others in the field but still gets down on the floor when possible to play with the children.
